The Girl and the Mouse

A poem I wrote.


Lost in the world, wandering about,
The girl sat down, and with a pout,
Said “why am I here, and what’s it about?”
Said a tiny mouse, “why do you shout?

“The world is a big place, and one can get lost,
But there is no need to travel across,
The length of it, and try to make sense,
Of all that is seen, and of all events.

“I take what I see, and I think about it,
Some I understand, and some I’ll never get.
But that’s okay, what’s the hurry?
Just have some fun, no need to worry.”

The girl thought for a while about what was said,
Did the mouse really talk, or was it in her head?
She looked around, but the mouse was gone,
Standing up, she smiled, and she walked on.
