Those Crazy Japanese TV Shows
It's amazing what they get away with in Japan in the name of high quality TV. :)
After seeing this video, I don't think I would want to go skiing there.
Or catch a cab.
It's not even safe to cross the street!

Foreign Songs
The Internet is a great place to find new music. At sites like youtube, dailymotion, and accuradio, you can find popular songs in other languages. Some foreign songs I like just because I don't know the words. If I am working, I can listen to them, and not and not lose my concentration by paying attention to the words. Others I like, because the videos are fun to watch.
This one is in Japanese. Some of the words are in English, which helps. It's a happy song, and the video shows the Japanese way to go to the Moon: first, give it an atmosphere we can breathe, then go! I talked about this song in the past.
The next two are in Russian.
Glukoza Nostra makes good videos for their songs. This one is a take-off of the Matrix and World of Warcraft. I talked about this group before.
I like to think of Valery Meladze as a Russian Tom Jones. ViaGra is an all-girl group. I talked about them back in 2007.
This song (German) was a big hit in the eighties.
Don't what they're singing? No problem! The song was popular enough that they released an English version.

Now, That's a Lot of Snowmen

Sato Land is a winter playground just outside Sapporo. A kid's delight, and a tourist destination for those wanting to try winter sports. Visitors were allowed to build their very own snowmen and include it in the massive display.

Japan's Current Top 20 Popular Songs
In honor of the Olympics, I’m compiling lists of the top 20 hit songs around the world. Yesterday was Argentina; today is Japan. Here is the Japan Top 20 list for the week ending August 17, 2008. I found the list at: www.top40-charts.com.
For some of the songs, the people who own the rights to the song do not necessarily want you to embed the videos. In that case, I have used a fan video, and included a link to the music video below.
Here are the songs:
1-10
11-20

Japanese Vending Machines
Japan sure likes vending machines! They have vending machines that sell about anything you can think of.
Here’s an example of such a vending machine, which sells various beverages.
This one sells Ramen noodles.
These machines sell ice cream.
You can buy hot food from this one. We should have this in the US!
Hello Kitty Popcorn.
You can buy coffee here.
Don't forget your batteries!
Beer? How does it check your ID?
And cigarettes.
If it rains, you can buy an umbrella.
I like vending machines. If I ever travel to Japan, I will check them out!
