Ghostbusters 3

Wouldn’t it be great if they made a third Ghostbusters movie? What would it be like?

From: whoiseyevan

I cut this trailer together in hopes that people would get excited about the Ghostbusters property once more. So far, it seems to be working. I am really hoping for the loooong rumored third movie... and sometime after I uploaded this, I found out that people are actually working to make it real. I would love be a part of a "real" Ghostbusters 3 film in any capacity.

The "trailer" is based on Dan Aykroyd's long-rumored Ghosbusters 3 premise... In fact, that's his voice narrating his idea throughout the 'Hell vignette' part.

It took me forever to piece this thing together. Here's the recipe for the trailer: Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters 2, Predator, Independence Day, Casper, Nightwatch, Gremlins 2, Lost in Translation, End of Days, Haunted Mansion, Hellboy, Earth vs the Spider, Orange County, Blues Brothers 2000, Miss Congeniality 2, Christmas with the Kranks, Miss Congeniality, Sleepy Hollow, X-Men, The Blob, Spider-man 3, High Spirits, Frighteners, Constantine, Mars Attacks, Charlie's Angels, Be Kind Rewind, Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves, Dan in Real Life

This is a fake, independent, non-profit trailer. It is not endorsed or connected to Columbia Pictures or Sony. It was made as a purely technical exercise and for laughs.

What if there was a prequel?

From: whoiseyevan

What if...

Ghostbusters, the movie, was shot in 1954 instead of 1984? Who would be part of the cast? What would their equipment look like? Who would they battle? Considering Dan Aykroyd's concept owes a lot to Bob Hope, Abbott and Costello, and Lewis and Martin comedies of the 40s and 50s, it is not that big of a stretch to speculate.

I hope you enjoy this re-imagined concept for Ghostbusters.

Here's the recipe for the trailer:

Ghostbusters, The Three Stooges, Scared Stiff, Ghost Breakers, Topper Takes a Trip, The Ghost Busters, Abbott and Costello meet the Invisible Man, Star Trek, Ghosts on the Loose, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Spooks Run Wild, The Absent-Minded Professor, Son of Flubber, The Caddy, 100 ans d'histoires de Bibendum

This is a fake, independent, non-profit trailer. It is not endorsed or connected to Columbia Pictures or Sony. It was made as a purely technical exercise and for laughs.

Actually, there will be a third movie. It is set to be released in 2012.

It’s Not Worth “Knowing”

I felt like seeing a movie today, so I went and saw Nicolas Cage’s latest movie “Knowing.” I did not read the review first, but the trailer looked cool.

It was not worth seeing the movie. Some of the special effects were cool, like the plane crash and the subway crash. And the fire scene at the end was cool, too. (Okay, the last video was not actually from the movie, but you get the idea.)

The idea of the movie was that a girl wrote down on paper 50 years ago a list of numbers containing the dates and death tolls of every major disaster for the next 50 years. But how did the kid know? The list is put into a time capsule, which is opened 50 years later. Nicolas’ son brings move the list from school, and Nicolas figurers out what the numbers mean. And only three events are left. Then what happens? The end of the world?

Where did the numbers come from the in first place? The girl heard the numbers in her head. From whom? In the current time, the same people are talking to Nicolas’ son. What are they? Angels? Aliens? They sort of remind me of these guys:

I’m watching the movie, and hoping that Nicolas figures out what the last disaster on the list is, and how to stop it. Well, he figures it out, but it is the end of the world, so he can’t stop that. Oh no! So what was the point of the list? “You’re gonna die; we just wanted you to know.”

Well, not exactly. The aliens/angels which can tell the future, know the world is going to end. And they want to save some of us. (And some rabbits, it seems.) But they can only take children on their space ship for some reason. The list, and talking to the children, was a way to get them to the place where the space ship would be. They could not just take the children; that would not be nice. They had talk in their heads, to make them want to go with them.

How is that better? Making the kids think they are crazy? (After all, they started doing this 50 years early for some reason.) But that’s aliens for you.

The movie just did not have much of a point to it. It was a waste of my time and money.

Vantage Point

Bad trailer, for a good movie.

“Eight strangers. Eight points of view. One truth.”

When I first saw this trailer, I thought it would be a movie that would cover eight people’s points of view about a single event, in this case, the president getting shot. So, I figured that most of the movie would be about getting statements from these eight people to determine what happened that day. Fortunately, that was not the case.

I just saw the movie on DVD at a friend’s house. While there are eight people, they are not all strangers to each other. Some of them have a part in what happens that day. While the first part of the movie goes over and over (from different people’s point of view) what happens right before and after the president gets shot, there is more to the movie than that.

Once we get a good idea what is going on, then the movie starts to make sense, and the good guys go after the bad guys.

If you like explosions, and car chases, you should like this movie. I did. It moves right along.

Joker Interrogation Scene Spoof

Okay this question's getting asked a lot so just to be clear: I play the Joker, and I play Batman. Same guy. I did everything except punch myself in the face, which came compliments of my friend Robert (I think you can see how much he enjoyed it). Thank you all for watching.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Okay, I said that I wasn’t going to see this movie. But I was bored, so I went and saw it anyway.

It turned out to not be as bad as I thought it would be. Not the best Star Wars movie, but better than The Star Wars Holiday Special.

I liked the antics of the stupid battle droids. I liked the new character, Ahsoka Tano. She was a good sidekick to Anakin Skywalker. And Jabba's son did not bother me. But, two hours to rescue the kid? This would have been better as a one hour TV episode.

Also, I really don't care what Anakin is up to, since we know he turns into Darth Vader. How about some movies about the events that happen after Return of the Jedi?

So, save your money. Don’t bother with this movie.

Death Race

I saw the Death Race movie the other day.

Will you like the movie?

- Did you see the original movie, Death Race 2000?

- Did you like the main character, David Carradine, in Death Race 2000?

- Did you like Tyrese Gibson's character in 2 Fast 2 Furious?

- Did you like Joan Allen’s character in The Borne Supremacy?

- Did you like Jason Statham in the Transporter movies?

- Do you like movies of car races, and gun battles?

Then you will like this movie. It has all of that in it. And explosions, too.

The plot is basic. In the future, they have a death race in a prison. If you survive, and win, five races, you win your freedom. The race is televised in the Internet for profit, so as you can guess, people die in the race off of the time.

Hence, they need a new Frankenstein when the old one (voiced by David Carradine) is killed in a race at the beginning of the film. So they set up as Jensen Ames (Jason Statham), a down on his luck former race car driver, for murder, and get him transferred to the prison. He is told to race as the Frankenstein if he ever wants to see his little girl again.

It’s not a very serious movie, but neither was the original movie, Death Race 2000. It’s a fun movie to watch.

Hellboy II Fails to Deliver (Spoilers)

I almost didn’t see this movie. I went to the mall for see it, and was checking the times, and almost bought a ticket for Iron Man instead. Yes, I’m getting old. However, watching that movie a second time would have been better than watching this movie. Hellboy number 1 was a better movie.

In movies like this, you need to tell the background information to the people watching. A good way to do this was by going back to when Hellboy was a kid, and having a story read to him. This made sense.

The movie just seemed to run a little slow for me. The opening part was good, with the story about the war between the humans and the elves. But, after that, it just moved too slow.

When Prince Nuada gets the third piece of the crown, why bother killing everyone at the auction house? Why bother showing his hand, before he gets a hold of the Golden Army? And the whole bit about them fighting the tooth fairy monsters I just could not believe. Seeing how small they were, and how many there were, I did not believe that they could kill them all. The movie could have been all about the fight between the world and the ravenous monsters. But, this was just to set up the next scene.

Prince Nuada wants to put the three parts of the crown back together, and fight the humans with the Golden Army. The elf King Balor tells the prince if he will not change his way, it will be death for him. The Prince asks his sister, Princess Nuala if she agrees, and she does. The prince then goes on to fight the solders, and eventually kill his father the King, to get his way. We find out later that the Prince and the Princess are twins, and what happens to one, happens to the other. So, if Nuala agreed that the prince should die, that she was ready to die, too. So, why did she not kill herself, to kill her brother? It would have made for a short movie, but since she does this at the end of the movie, what not at the beginning?

And why search out the map for the golden army? The sister knew that her brother would find her, so why find the map for him?

The ending battle against the golden army was too small. If the golden army was so big, and if they were going to restart the army in the movie, then it should have been a big battle against the humans and the army. By just having Hellboy and his friends fight the army, no one else will know what happened. Kind of boring, in my opinion.

But, I did like the first movie, and I do like the Hellboy character. I hope they make a third movie.

I suggest if you want to watch this movie, watch it on a hot day, and take advantage of the movie theater’s air-conditioning. Or wait for it to be released on DVD. Maybe just watch the trailer for now.

Forbidden Planet

When you watch an old Science Fiction movie, what do you think? You might have nostalgia, since you remember watching it as a child. You might think it is stupid, since the movie is so out of date. You might laugh at it, because the movie special effects are so simple, compared to today's movies. You might actually still think its a good movie, since it still works for you, as it did when it first came out. That is what I think of Forbidden Planet.

It was made in 1956, and the special effects where good for its time. For me, they still work. The movie, about a planet where an alien race has died off long ago, is the kind of Science Fiction movie I like. I like moves about ancient alien civilizations.

The movie stars Walter Pidgeon, Anne Francis, and Leslie Nielsen. Yes, Leslie Nielsen in a serious role.

In 1992, LeVar Burton (Geordi from Star Trek: The Next Generation) talked about the movie when it was shown on TNT.

Here is the space ship landing on the planet.

I love the eerie music from the film. And the scene in the power plant is one of my favorites of the movie.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

It's dark and stormy outside. A good time for a horror movie. How about The Rocky Horror Picture Show?

Here are some of the songs from the film. If you want to hear all of the songs, buy the soundtrack. If you want to see the entire movie, get the DVD!

Alternative Science Fiction/Double Feature

I like the original idea for the start better than the lips, since it shows the movies it’s singing about. It gives the idea of the kind of movie this is going to be: part horror, part science fiction, part B movie. :)

Over at the Frankenstein Place

Brad and Janet’s car gets a flat. It’s a dark and stormy night. The place around with a light on has a sign “ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK!!” So what do they do? Well, it wouldn’t be much of a horror film unless they went in, would it?

Time Warp

There’s a party going on! Strange people, strange customs. And dancing!

Sweet Transvestite

Dr. Frank-N-Furter makes his apperance. Later on, since any good Dr. Frankenstein needs his own Frankstein’s monster, he will make one.

Hot Patootie-Bless My Soul

Meatloaf is introduced. He sings a song…and then he dies.

Much craziness ensures. Finally, the servants are tired of it, and announce that they will be returning to the planet Transylvania.

I'm Going Home

Frank is happy to be returning home.

But, Frank isn’t going home. Just the servants are. That's the breaks.

Alternative Science Fiction/Double Feature (Reprise)

We will finish this the same way we started, with the alternative video for the ending credits.

Star Trek: What's Next?

Yesterday we talked about Star Wars. Today let’s talk about Star Trek. It started in the 60s with the TV show Star Trek, which was on for three seasons, and then it was cancelled.

In the 70’s there was Star Trek: The Animated Series for one season. It stared the original actors from the original series.

After that, the movies did not start until 1979. From 1979 to 1991, there were six movies made with the original actors from the original series.

Then, starting in the 80’s came the new TV shows. Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987–1994), Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993–1999), Star Trek: Voyager (1995–2001), and Star Trek: Enterprise (2001–2005).

From 1994 to 2002, there were four more movies, with the cast from Star Trek: The Next Generation.

So, what is up for Star Trek now?

In December 2008, there will be a new Star Trek movie. The film will feature James T. Kirk and Spock, but who will play them? http://en.wikipedia.org

Also, there is a new TV show for Star Trek on the web. Star Trek: New Voyages. It takes off where Star Trek from the 60s ended. After all, it was a five year mission. There are two years to go. It uses different actors instead of the original actors. http://www.StarTrekNewVoyages.com

I’m glad that they are still making Star Trek movies and TV shows. Star Wars people, how about you?

Star Wars Needs to Expand Its Universe

As I posted the other day, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will be released in 2008, and include a video game, a book, and more. How about another movie?

When the first movie was released, it was just called Star Wars. Later on, based on it’s popularity, George Lucas announced that there would be a total of nine movies.

The “second trilogy,” to be made first. Star Wars was renamed Episode 4 - A New Hope. And Episode 5 - The Empire Strikes Back, and Episode 6 – The Return of the Jedi were released later.

The first trilogy came later, and included Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace, Episode 2 – Attack of the Clones, and Episode 3 – Revenge of the Sith. This series was supposed to take place twenty years before the second trilogy.

The third, final trilogy, was supposed to take place twenty years after the second trilogy, but it has never been made. Instead, George Lucas made changes to the original trilogy a couple of times.

Now would be a good time for some more movies. While not twenty years in the future, I would like to see them make movies out of The Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn. (Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command.)

The Timothy Zahn books were a good read, and would make great movies. They may have a problem getting the original actors to be in the movie, since they are all older now, but they could use other actors, if they had to. It would still be fun to see more movies. I can hope, can't I?

Not the way to buy an iPhone

DALLAS -- a lady thought she would make a killing by buying up all of the iPhones and selling them on Ebay. Well, it did not work out the way she wanted, but it made the day for one guy who was waiting in line.

FOX 4's Steve Noviello watched the money unfold.
