Tough Times

Gasoline is almost $4 a gallon now. Food prices are going up. House prices are going down. Is it the end of the world? No, we have been here before. Remember the 70's?

We had an energy crisis, and at times were only allowed to buy gas on odd or even days. (Based on the last digit of your license plate.) We had high inflation, and high unemployment. But, we still had our music!

Junior's Farm - Paul McCartney & Wings

Paul McCartney & Wings perform their single "Junior's Farm" on "Top of the Pops" in 1974.

Prices were going up.

I took my bag into a grocer's store
The price is higher than the time before
Old man asked me "Why is it more?"

And people looked for someone to blame.

Ev'rybody's talking 'bout the President
We all chip in for a bag of cement

So you might settle for any job.

Ooh, ooh
You might not ever get rich
But let me tell ya
It's better than diggin' a ditch
