Forbidden Planet

When you watch an old Science Fiction movie, what do you think? You might have nostalgia, since you remember watching it as a child. You might think it is stupid, since the movie is so out of date. You might laugh at it, because the movie special effects are so simple, compared to today's movies. You might actually still think its a good movie, since it still works for you, as it did when it first came out. That is what I think of Forbidden Planet.

It was made in 1956, and the special effects where good for its time. For me, they still work. The movie, about a planet where an alien race has died off long ago, is the kind of Science Fiction movie I like. I like moves about ancient alien civilizations.

The movie stars Walter Pidgeon, Anne Francis, and Leslie Nielsen. Yes, Leslie Nielsen in a serious role.

In 1992, LeVar Burton (Geordi from Star Trek: The Next Generation) talked about the movie when it was shown on TNT.

Here is the space ship landing on the planet.

I love the eerie music from the film. And the scene in the power plant is one of my favorites of the movie.

lastweek0279 created an updated trailer for the film.

Here's the original trailer.

And Bargaintuan created a short version of the film.

You're welcome! I have the movie on tape; I taped it off TNN years ago. I recently bought it on DVD, myself. Enjoy the movie!

This was my first real science fiction movie. I'll never forget the first time I saw the scene with the monster trying to get through the force field. If I remember correctly, they did that with clear plastic wrap.

I wish not acquiesce in on it. I regard as warm-hearted post. Especially the designation attracted me to review the whole story.
